A Beautiful AR Drawing Inspired by Pixar's Soul

The creator utilized Procreate, Blender, and Swift Playgrounds to set up the project.

Illustrator and Designer Jarom Vogel has shared a look at an incredible AR drawing he created for Pixar Animation Studios a couple of months ago. Inspired by Pixar's 2020 comedy-drama film Soul, the illustration consists of multiple 2D layers drawn by Vogel in Procreate, which were then arranged in Blender to create a 3D-like effect. The augmented reality effect, commented the creator, was coded in Swift Playgrounds, an educational tool and development environment for the Swift programming language developed by Apple.

If you would like to create a similar-looking artwork, we also recommend checking out the artist's amazing two-part course – Layers of Reality – in which he explained how to create a layered artwork in Procreate and then use basic coding skills in Swift Playgrounds to turn it into an AR experience.
