A Smooth Room Transition Effect Set Up in Unreal Engine 5

The effect was created by Malfrax for an upcoming puzzle game.

Indie Game Developer known as Malfrax, who is currently working on a UE5-powered puzzle, has demonstrated a neat room transition effect made for the upcoming game. The effect, set up by the developer for gameplay purposes, allows the player to see only one room at a time, the room in which they are in, from a top-down view, concealing all the other environments and making it look like the visible room is located in a black void.

According to the developer, this effect is in its early stages, with many tweaks, such as enlarging the player's visibility between rooms, hiding the wall between the player and the character, and disabling the obscured rooms for optimization, being planned to be applied down the line.
