A Working Portal Gun Made in Augmented Reality

The creator utilized Lens Studio and Metascan to create a cool AR experience.

Digital Designer Max van Leeuwen has shared a new demo that showcases a cool working portal gun made in augmented reality. According to the demo, the gun enables the developer to create portals on various surfaces that allow one to see what's on the other side, much like in Valve's Portal games but without the ability to actually move through them.

To create this mesmerizing project, the author utilized Snap AR's Lens Studio, a powerful application designed for artists and developers to build augmented reality experiences, and Metascan, a 3D capture tool for iPhone and iPad that can be used to create photorealistic 3D models of objects from photos and capture spaces using LiDAR.
