AAA John Wick Game is Reportedly in the Talks at Lionsgate

Motion Picture Group's Joe Drake confirmed that John Wick 5 is in the works and commented on the rumored John Wick game project.

During Lionsgate's Q4 2023 earnings call, Joe Drake, the chairman of Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group, provided several updates regarding the future of the John Wick franchise. He confirmed that the fifth installment of the John Wick film series is already in progress, while also discussing the rumored John Wick AAA game.

As reported by ComicBook, Drake revealed that John Wick 5 is still in its early stages of development, along with two other projects set within the same universe. One of these projects is Ballerina, the first spinoff film, scheduled for release next year, while the other project is The Continental, a TV series based on the John Wick universe. Drake also briefly mentioned the upcoming game based on the action franchise, stating that the team is "now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space".

"We're now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there's clear appetite by the audience," commented Drake. "What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We're in development on three others, including John Wick 5 and including television series, The Continental, will be airing soon. And so, we're building out the world and when that five movie comes, will be organic – will be organically grown out of how we're starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick."

The rumored AAA John Wick game was first mentioned in November 2022, when Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer disclosed that the company had been engaging in discussions about potential game concepts and noted that they would be interested in getting a video game adaptation.
