BioWare Veteran Mac Walters Leaves the Company

Mac Walters, the lead writer on Mass Effect 2 and 3 and production director on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, has left BioWare after nearly 20 years.

Mac Walters, a veteran developer at BioWare, has officially left the studio after nearly two decades.

He announced the news in a LinkedIn post which was spotted by Eurogamer. According to his LinkedIn page, Walters is currently on a career break, pursuing a personal goal.

"As some of you already know, at the end of last year I decided to leave BioWare," Walters wrote. "These past 19 years have been a life-changing experience to say the least, and it made the choice to go very difficult. I’ve worked with so many wonderful people and had the privilege to be a part of the most amazing teams and projects."

During his time at BioWare, Walters has played a significant role in the development of a number of notable projects. He began his career at the company by working on 2003's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and 2005's Jade Empire.

He later served as the senior writer on the original Mass Effect and then took on the role of the lead writer for the second and third installments of the Mass Effect trilogy.

Walters also was the narrative director of Anthem and the creative director of Mass Effect Andromeda. Later he contributed to Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a compilation of the video games in the Mass Effect trilogy, as the project director.

Most recently, Walters was working as production director on the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, BioWare's next big release which was announced back in 2018 but still has no release date.
