Blender Is Hiring for Multiple Positions

Blender is seeking engineers, developers, communication specialists, and managers to work in Amsterdam or remotely.

Blender, the organization behind a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software tool, is looking to expand its team and is hiring across multiple disciplines including engineers, developers, communication specialists, and managers.

The organization noted that it is looking for specialists who share a passion for working on a public open source project as well as have a strong motivation to turn ideas into reality, stressing that passion and motivation are two key hiring factors for people in Blender's team.

"The Blender organization is very lean. There is just the bare minimum of HR and operations. We avoid implementing management overhead and other common corporate structures. We 'manage by talent'; we expect everyone here to be agile and self-sufficient," CEO and Chairman of Blender Foundation Ton Roosendaal said. "We look forward to adding team players who love to work with other highly effective people. Bring in something extra, add value in areas we wish to improve."

The current open positions in Blender include:

  • Geometry/Hair/Physics Nodes Engineer – this specialist will work on the quality and high performance of node systems in game/film production;
  • Senior Rendering Developer – this employee will be part of the team that maintains and advances rendering in Blender;
  • Senior Character Animation Systems Developer – this position suggests getting Blender’s character animation system ready for the next decade;
  • macOS Developer – this specialist will improve the macOS user experience in Blender;
  • Senior Backend Developer – this employee will design and implement web applications and tools that help the Blender Studio team create films and achieve creative endeavors as well as work on applications that help the community of contributors to be connected and involved with the Blender project.

Apart from engineers and developers, Blender is also seeking a Communication Specialist who will learn and collect information about ongoing and upcoming Blender projects; design and implement communication campaigns; edit videos, write copy, and share content on social media and other platforms.

The organization is also looking for an Operations Manager who will work closely with the current founder and phase out operational and organizational work. In the future, this specialist will be able to grow into the COO of Blender.

Several positions offer remote options, while others suggest working from Blender's headquarters in Amsterdam. You can learn more about the open positions at Blender and apply here.
