Bloober Team: Silent Hill 2 Remake Is "Technically Ready" But Not Yet Finished

The studio's head says there are additional aspects to take into account before determining the exact release date of the title.

Bloober Team has provided an update on the Silent Hill 2 Remake it is currently working on saying that the game is "technically ready."

In an interview with a Polish publication Bankier, the studio's CEO Piotr Babieno stated that the development of the game has progressed significantly. However, according to him, there are additional aspects to take into account before determining the exact release date of the title.

"Silent Hill 2 is technically ready. It does not mean that the game is finished, but we are close," he said. "However, the issue of the release schedule lies with our partners, what the promotion will look like and when the title will debut is not directly in our hands."

When talking about the company's overall direction, Babieno explained that their new strategy is more of an evolution rather than a revolution from their previous Bloober 2.0 strategy. This entails a shift from relying on environmental storytelling to creating games that utilize mechanics that are familiar to a broad audience.

"We want our titles to be not only milestones for the genre in the future but also for the entire industry. We've said many times that our goal is where Naughty Dogs or Ninja Theory are," he said.

Speculations regarding the Silent Hill 2 remake had been circulating throughout the year until it was eventually announced at the end of 2022. The game will feature enhanced graphics that highlight the eerie ambiance of the town, new gameplay features like the over-the-shoulder camera, and an innovative combat system that should bring a more engaging experience than its predecessor.
