Command & Conquer Remaster Looks Amazing

You can switch between the original assets of the game and the remastered one on the fly.

I’m sure there are very few people, who actually don’t know what Command & Conquer series is. In my neighborhood it was the to-go game after school. We’ve flocked into the greasy, horrible smelling computer game joints with LAN and CRT monitors. And we all played Command & Conquer, which obviously was a lot of fun at that time.

Electronic Arts believes that this game is still a lot of time, so it commissioned a remaster, which looks kind of amazing. It’s not just a high-resolution version of the original game. All of the sprites in the game were actually redrawn and new animations were added. The vehicles, the infantry and the buildings look very much modern, the terrain sprites were also modified. The game actually still is pretty bloody, so you’ll still be enjoying all the horrible cries of poor soldiers. Not everyone might enjoy the new look though. For this reason Petroglyph Games and Lemon Sky Studios have actually added a feature, which allows switching between the old graphical mode and the new one on the fly. One second you’re playing with the assets in 320 x 200, and in a second you jump to 3840 x 2160.

The remaster with include the original game, Command & Conquer: Red Alert and expansion packs Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and Aftermath. That’s a lot of content for the fans. There’s no information about the upcoming release date though, so we’ll have to wait and see.
