Crystal Dynamics Is Discontinuing Support for Marvel's Avengers

Marvel's Avengers will not be getting any updates starting March 31 and all support for the game will be ceased on September 30.

Crystal Dynamics officially confirmed that it is ending support of its online live-service multiplayer game Marvel's Avengers. This decision comes two and a half years after the game was first released in September 2020.

Crystal Dynamics announced the news in a blog post saying that Update 2.8 which will launch on March 31, 2023 will be the last content update for Marvel's Avengers and all support for the game will be stopped starting September 30, 2023.

In line with this decision, Crystal Dynamics will also be discontinuing the sale of Marvel's Avengers on all platforms and storefronts starting September 30, 2023. The game will also be removed from Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus on the same date.

However, even after support ends, the game, both single- and multiplayer modes, will continue to be available. In addition, players will have free access to all cosmetic items in Marvel's Avengers.

When released in September 2020, Marvel's Avengers had a mixed reception, with both players and critics praising the game for its single-player campaign and criticizing it for its integration of live-service mechanics.

A few months after the game launched, Square Enix revealed that the game did not meet its expectations. Later, in November 2021, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda admitted that the game was a disappointment to the company.
