Dry Cactus Is Seeking a Senior 3D Artist

A team that stands behind award-winning physics bridge-building puzzle games, the Poly Bridge series, is looking for a Lead Artist with a strong artistic vision and 3D modeling skills to empower the studio and work on the upcoming IP.

This is a long-term remote-based contract. The Dry Cactus studio is headquartered in a small town in New Zealand and it's mostly a remote team, however, if you wish to join the colleagues on-site, they can help you with the relocation to the coasts of New Zealand.

The studio is well-known for its previous work on the Poly Bridge series. You may check out the most recent game here as the upcoming project is a follow-up in a similar visual style.

Currently, the team is seeking an experienced and skilled 3D artist, who will be in charge of the artistic vision for the upcoming title and will empower the team with the expertise. For this role, the studio is looking for an Art Lead that has a strong artistic vision and 3D modeling skills, someone who has plenty of experience working in the games industry and understands the creative process of a video game, both technically and aesthetically.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work collaboratively with the creative director, technical director, and lead concept artist to define the art vision for the game
  • Develop the visual style (tone, mood, locations, vehicles, etc.) with the concept artist and 3D art team
  • Maintain the balance between the artistic vision, the game vision and technical feasibility
  • Review the visual content of the game and provide feedback to achieve the desired quality

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong interest and demonstrated skills in stylized, low-poly, and hand-painted art styles
  • 5+ years of experience as an Artist or Art Director in the video game industry
  • Exceptional 3D modeling and UV/texturing skills
  • Ability to balance the 3D aesthetic with in-game performance and optimization
  • Effective at working in cross-discipline teams to achieve a shared mission
  • Strong familiarity with Unity
