The news outlet will change its name, design, and URL.
Gamasutra, an informative website for game developers, was rebranded as Game Developer. The old name has been in use for around 25 years but according to Kris Graft, Gamasutra's Editor-in-Chief, they needed to change it into something more appealing due to "sheer cringe". Graft promised a more functional, modern website where editors have much greater flexibility to curate and organize content, so some changes that would need some getting used to are to be expected. The editorial content will be migrated to Game Developer over time. The entire editorial team will stay the same with Alissa McAloon as the new site’s Editor-in-Chief.
"On Thursday this week, barring any unforeseen hurdles, we're updating our name to Game Developer and will be located at gamedeveloper.com," comments Kris Graft. "Aside from a new name, this means that you'll be visiting an all-new website. You can expect a complete design overhaul and a more functional, modern website where editors have much greater flexibility to curate and organize content, and where readers can hopefully find the editorial they're looking for more easily. Our team's goal is to migrate 100% of Gamasutra's editorial content to Game Developer, implementing permanent redirects so old links still work."
