Gearbox Founder Possibly Hints at Borderlands 4

Fans expect it to be announced at PAX East.

Rumors of Borderlands 4 have been circulating for a while now, with fans speculating about its possible announcement soon. But the biggest hint of the game's development comes from Gearbox's founder, Randy Pitchford, who was asked about his favorite title in the series, and this was his answer:

"Look, we haven't even announced anything of it," Pitchford told IGN. "Clearly, we're working on something. And I know what we're working on, and holy shit... It's the greatest thing we've ever done. And I can't wait, but it's not time yet. It's not time yet. There will be a time."

Of course, players are eager for the next part of the looter shooter, and they think it will be announced soon. On February 6, Gearbox released a recap of the first game in the franchise. As many predicted, the second arrived a week later. One Redditor suggested that if the studio shares such summaries for every game (including The Pre-Sequel, Tales From the Borderlands, Borderlands 3, and New Tales from the Borderlands) each week, we'll hear about Borderlands 4 during PAX East, a gaming event where Borderlands 3 was announced in 2019.

At this point, it will be really disappointing if these hopes are in vain, so much lead-up is bound to get fans excited; there is no doubt in their heads that information about the next game is coming soon. The issue with the neat theory above is that Borderlands' X/Twitter account was filled with posters for the movie adaptation on February 20, so now it doesn't work quite as smoothly, but we'll have to see. Perhaps, the last recap will fall on March 19 but the new game will be presented on March 21-24 at PAX.

Meanwhile, you can check out the new trailer for Eli Roth's film, starring Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Florian Munteanu as Krieg, Jack Black as Claptrap, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr.Patricia Tannis, and Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, here.
