Geometry Nodes-Powered Mesh Disintegration Effect

Late as usual impresses us yet again with an amazing new Blender-made VFX.

Renowned VFX Artist Late as usual continues the series of marvelous Blender-made visual effects with yet another amazing project. This time, the artist unveiled a neat Geometry Nodes setup that allows one to disintegrate parts of a mesh in real-time, turning the selected area into myriads of colorful particles.

"I didn't bother with a separate object to handle conversion to what gets seen (i.e. independent of simulation state) instead opting to convert the static/particles into instances," comments the creator. "Note all the particles are *one* instance, so no individual scale - "scale" is done in the shader."

Previously, Late as usual showed a neat "fake boolean" shadera cool-looking space-destroying portalan impressive laser melting effect, an "uploading" effect, and a stunning black hole effect made with shaders only. You can check out the artist's Gumroad page and Twitter page to learn more.
