Godot 3.5 Available

Check out what's new in the latest update to the open-source engine.

After 9 months of development, Godot 3.5 is now available featuring a number of new updates and quality of life improvements. The development team noted that most of the work was focused on "implementing missing features or fixing bugs which are critical for publishing 2D and 3D games with Godot 3.x, and at making the existing features more optimized and reliable." Please note that Godot 3.5 is compatible with Godot 3.4.x projects and is a recommended upgrade for all 3.4.x users.

First, there's a fully overhauled navigation system. The new NavigationServer is said to add support for obstacle avoidance using the RVO2 library, plus navigation meshes can now be baked at runtime.

The update also adds the new physics/common/physics_interpolation option in the project settings letting Godot automatically interpolate objects, smoothing out rendered frames.

What is more, there are two new nodes for displaying text in 3D scenes: Label3D for 2D text-like in-game information, and TextMesh which allows extruding text into 3D meshes.
