Hellblade Developer Ninja Theory Said It Doesn't Use AI Voice Acting in Its Games

The company got some fans worried by using AI voice technology.

Hellblade developer Ninja Theory has confirmed that it doesn't use AI technology for voice acting in its games. The studio's fans got worried after the news of Ninja Theory working with Altered AI's voice tech that could reduce the need for human voice actors. The tool allows creating a range of voices for in-game use, developers just need to provide what they want to be voiced.

This made players wonder if the upcoming Senua's Saga: Hellblade II utilizes AI abilities. However, the company said it uses the tech for placeholder content only "to help us understand things like timing and placement in early phases of development." Then, it collaborates with real actors whose voices we'll hear in the game.

AI in any form, be it image generation or voice acting, makes artists worry about their work. At the same time, others think it's a great asset to art that can't be truly compared to human-made work.

At least now we know something more about  Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, which will be coming to Xbox Series X|S.
