In a recent interview, Katsuhiro Harada, the Lead of Tekken, shared that he once wanted to add KFC's Colonel Sanders as a playable fighter to the game, but the fast-food chain didn't let him do it.
Harada said that he had this idea in mind and asked the company if he could actually realize it. "So, I asked to use Colonel Sanders and go to the head office in Japan," he commented. He also said that he was given a "bad look" and his request was declined.
Game Designer Michael Murray explained that Kentucky Fried Chicken "weren't very open to the idea." However, he pointed out that Colonel Sanders appeared in games after that and supposed that the refusal was probably because Tekken was a fighting game. "But it just goes to show how difficult these types of discussions are," Murray summed up.
The video game in which Colonel Sanders once appeared was a dating simulator called I Love You Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator, developed by Psyop and published by KFC:
