The "surprise June update" brings Node UI improvements to Cinema 4D, better performance to Redshift, compatibility updates to Red Giant tools, and more.

Maxon shipped a "surprise June update" for its services making it available immediately to subscribers of individual tools and Maxon One. The changes affect Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Red Giant.

Cinema 4D

Cinema 4D 26.1 – the newest version of the 3D modeling, animation, simulation, and rendering software – includes an enhanced Node UI and improvements to Simulation, Fields, and Volume Modeling, in addition to numerous fixes and workflow enhancements. You can learn more in our article.

Redshift

The latest updates to Redshift, a GPU-accelerated 3D rendering software, include ‘bokeh’ depth-of-field in Redshift RT and blackbody temperature controls for volume shading. Maxon promises improved performance when rendering using the CPU and full feature compatibility with GPU with the addition of Round Corners.

The ability to render with CPU only or with both CPU and GPU was introduced in Redshift 3.5.

Red Giant

Red Giant's tools for editing, VFX, and motion design got some changes too. The 3D particle systems Trapcode Suite 18.1 introduces time-based mapping to complete the Layer Maps feature-set in Particular. Additionally, the Grow Bounds utility now runs natively on M1 machines, and this service pack includes several bug fixes for Particular, Form, and 3D Stroke.

Magic Bullet 16.1 – a set of plugins for color correction, finishing, and film looks – brings Halation and Diffusion to Cinema 4D, letting you add film-like bloom and aberration to your renders.

The audio-video sync software PluralEyes 4.1.12 and Universe 6.1, a collection of GPU-accelerated effects and transitions plugins, are focused on workflow and compatibility. PluralEyes 4.1.12 adds Vegas Pro 18 and 19 as well as RED Komodo compatibility and restores full compatibility with FCPX. Universe 6.1 provides improved support for AMD graphics cards and bug fixes across various Universe tools.

Finally, the toolkit for realistic visual effects VFX Suite 3.1 improves the performance of Real Lens Flares and includes several bug fixes.

All of the updates are available for Maxon tools' subscribers. You can get all services in a Maxon One subscription, which costs $99.91/month. Cinema 4D will cost you $59.91, Red Giant Complete – $49.91, and Redshift  – $22.
