The 3D modeling and animation toolkit gets several improvements and bug fixes.
Autodesk released Maya 2023.1, the new update to its 3D modeling and animation toolkit. The new version improves Boolean modeling and vertex painting, brings a new HumanIK interface template, and more.
First, the team introduced several updates to the new Boolean workflow giving artists more control when creating complex models.
Stack Interface:
Users can now quickly add selected meshes as Input Objects directly from the Stack Interface. Once an Input Object is added, selection can be done bi-directionally in both the Stack Interface and the Viewport. The updates is said to significantly improve usability in the Boolean Stack.
Input Objects:
Creators can quickly duplicate an existing object by right-clicking on it in the Stack. "Performance can be significantly increased when editing inputs by disabling the new Interactive Update option. Additional settings allow you to set the default behaviour for any new Input Objects that are later added to the Stack," wrote the team.
Autodesk has introduced several enhancements and important bug fixes for a smoother experience when working with USD in Maya. The update offers extended support for MaterialX and increased support for native Maya shaders such as color correction and AMD’s MaterialX Library. What is more, the new version includes more accurate intensities for default lights, UI enhancements, and general robustness for Maya Reference workflows and “Edit as Maya”.
As for fans of Arnold, the renderer got increased stability, performance, and bug fixes for "a more user-friendly experience and compatibility with Maya when rendering your projects."
