New data reveals that the majority of jobs posted in the first half of 2022 were intermediate-level, while entry-level positions accounted for just 5%.

New data provided by gaming and esports jobs platform Hitmarker has revealed that only 5% of gaming jobs posted in the first half of 2022 were entry-level positions.

Hitmarker analyzed 19,458 gaming jobs advertised on the platform from January 1 to July 31 and found out that the majority of job openings posted during this period were intermediate-level (44.6%). Senior positions also had a significant share (41.8%), while junior roles and entry-level positions accounted only for 8.6% and 5% respectively.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of entry-level jobs remained relatively the same around the globe, however, the share of junior opportunities decreased, from 11% in the first half of 2021. Job postings offering intermediate-level positions slightly dropped from the previous year (from 46.4%), but the number of senior roles increased from 37.4% in H1 2021.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, the breakdown of jobs in the UK is similar to the global figures. Of the 1,893 roles advertised in the first six months of 2022, the majority of jobs also were intermediate-level (46.4%) followed by senior roles (38.1%). Meanwhile, only 5.9% were entry-level and 9.4% were junior.

In the US, the share of junior and entry-level positions is even less – 6.8%. and 3.4% respectively (of 6,822 jobs posted). The major part of offered jobs were senior roles (50%) and the second place was taken by intermediate level (39.7%).
