PS5 VR Headset is Expected to be Released During 2022 Holiday Season

According to Bloomberg's report, the new product will launch next year around Christmas and will use Samsung OLED displays.

Sony first confirmed the company was working on the new PlayStation 5 VR headset in February. Since then, Sony has presented its next-generation VR controller that has a completely different design compared to the existing controllers. It comes with adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, finger touch detection, and other new features.

Later on, some updates on what the new headset might be like started to emerge. One of the major changes might be foveated rendering: keeping the image sharp wherever the eye is focused on and blurring it out elsewhere using eye-tracking. Sony PS VR headset is one of the few VR headsets that use OLED panels instead of LCD (which are cheaper), and the upcoming model will likely be using OLED panels from Samsung Display Co.
