Quitting a Job to Pursue a Game Developer Career

Check out this post by Chris Zukowski on transitioning from an office worker into a Game Developer.

In 2019 a Game Developer behind over 6 games Chris Zukowski released a post where he explains the reason behind quitting a job to pursue a career in gamedev. The office work seemed gray and dull for Chris, and he would usually sketch out game ideas and maps while pretending to take notes in the endless deluge of meetings.

Chris goes on to tell how he would spend almost 2 years coding the first game, how he gave the first talk at the world's biggest conference for game developers – Game Developer Conference, and more.

"My talk was rated the #1 talk at the Indie Game Summit and the #1 talk across all summits. I cannot believe how well it was received. The talk was posted online and people started watching. A lot of people. And then they started calling. I have been offered gigs to consult for established game companies. There is a need here and part of the reason I feel comfortable leaving my job is to help others with what I know, " reads the post.

Overall, Chris' post is very positive and inspirational, and we definitely recommend you to read it. You can access it by clicking this link.
