Realistic UE5-Powered Water Shader for VR Updated

The new version of Khena B's outstanding water shader comes with more particles and a heavier water effect.

Solo Game Developer Khena B shared a new demo that showcases the updated version of an ultra-realistic water shader for VR, first shown by the author back in early August. In case you missed it, the project consists of a water plane, masked post-process shaders, a decal shader to set up the caustics, and Unreal's SceneTexture for the distortion effect.

The newly-released demo shows the enhanced and improved version of the project that includes a brief heavier water effect for when the player comes out of the water and more particles, making the entire experience look even more realistic. The demo runs on Quest 2 via Air Link and is powered by Unreal Engine 5.

In the future, the developer plans to continue improving the experience by adding more features, such as interactive plants, wildlife, buoyancy, swim mechanics, and hidden treasures for the player to discover. Once finished, the project will be available for download via Unreal Engine Marketplace. You can follow the development process and leave your suggestions by visiting Khena B's Twitter page.
