Redditor Claims Samsung Faked Its "Space Zoom" Moon Photos

And they offer extensive proof.

You might have seen the amazing Moon photos Samsung's Galaxy S20 Ultra takes with its "Space Zoom" feature. The results are incredible but are they real? Reddit user ibreakphotos doesn't think so, and they have a lot to say about it.

They have conducted extensive research trying to prove the photos are fake. ibreakphotos downloaded a high-res image of the Moon, applied Gaussian blur to hide the details, and took a picture. From the image below, you can see that the camera added the details that were never there in the first place.

The researcher concludes that Samsung uses AI to make up craters and other intricacies, and it's not the optics' work. To be fair, the company has talked about using Artificial Intelligence in its cameras before, but does it make the photos fake? What's clear is that the great results shouldn't be credited to the camera's zoom.
