Squid Game is Expected to Generate $891M

That's 40 times more than the original price they paid.

Squid Game, a Korean drama that went viral and became Netflix’s biggest-ever TV show, will reportedly bring an astonishing payback for the streaming service. Netflix paid $21.4 million for the nine-episode series and they now expect  the series to generate $891 million, more than 40 times in what they call "impact value."

The number was originally shared by Bloomberg saying that it is a measure of a title’s economic contribution to Netflix based on subscriber viewing. Bloomberg’s report also said that a lawyer for Netflix told the news outlet that it would be “inappropriate” to publish the confidential data contained in the documents.

It is reported that in the 23 days since the Sept. 17 release of Squid Game, more than 132 million Netflix households streamed at least two minutes of the show. About 89% of those viewers watched at least 75 minutes and 66% of them finished the entire series within the first 23 days of its release. The report also states that Netflix users streamed more than 1.4 billion hours of Squid Game since its release.

As we mentioned previously, the giant only paid $21.4 million to get the right. Imagine what the authors could get if they decided to push the revenue share contract.
