The Last of Us Multiplayer Game Gets Postponed

Naughty Dog has decided to give its "most ambitious project" some more time.

Last week, The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog took to Twitter, announcing that the production process behind their standalone multiplayer TLoU game has been slowed down, with the studio planning to give the project "more time".

Described earlier as the studio's "most ambitious project" by Neil Druckmann, the multiplayer game set in The Last of Us universe has been in development since before The Last of Us Part II was released in 2020. As per Naughty Dog's statement, the project has not been cancelled entirely, and the team will continue to work on it alongside the studio's brand-new single-player experience.

Following the announcement, Bloomberg revealed that numerous developers working on The Last of Us Multiplayer were reassigned to different projects within Naughty Dog. Bungie, the renowned developer of Destiny, reportedly assessed and raised concerns about Naughty Dog's multiplayer game, questioning its potential to maintain long-lasting player engagement.
