The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Creators Are Interested in Movie Adaptation

Producer Eiji Aonuma and game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi talk about the latest game and future possibilities.

In a recent interview with Polygon, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma and game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi expressed their interest in the series movie adaptation, especially considering The Super Mario Bros. Movie success.

"I have to say, I am interested," said Aonuma. "For sure. But it’s not just me being interested in something that makes things happen, unfortunately."

Fujibayashi then hinted that fans might be able to influence the decision as their voice "is what’s important here."

In the same interview, the creators also discussed freedom in Tears of the Kingdom, player feedback, and ancient Japanese culture's touch in the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released on Friday and has predictably captured the hearts of many. The new adventure has a Metascore of 96 and a user score of 8.7 on Metacritic.

Taking into account the franchise's popularity, we believe the movie adaptation could easily earn a billion just like Mario did.
