The Market of Light: An Impressive UE5 Tech Demo

The demo can be played for free on Steam.

If you wanted to experience the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, here's your chance. Meet The Market of Light, a short exploration game and tech demo created with Unreal Engine 5. You play as a small firefly that collects orbs of light scattered around the market. You can fly around a meticulously rendered world and check out all of its little details from a micro view point.

The tech demo has been developed by Japanese Studio Historia, which developed the role-playing game The Caligula Effect: Overdose. The team behind the project claims that they were inspired by the excitement of the announcement by Unreal Engine 5 and that is how the project was born.

"Nanite handles unlimited polygons, Lumen, which allows for perfectly dynamic lighting, and the latest visual effect tool, Niagara," comments the team. "Even one would have been sensational, but it's a major event to have all of them come out at almost the same time."

Tech Demo's System Requirements:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: 4-core 3.20 GHz
  • Memory: 8000 MB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX1070
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 25000 MB available space
  • Additional Notes: Frame rate might not be high enough depending on your PC specs.
