Mona, a decentralized metaverse platform, is launching the largest metaverse buildathon.
The Renaissance is a 3d buildathon event, designed to spur the creation of new virtual worlds. It’s an open call for Architects, Designers, and Artists, to build 3d spaces centered around 3 categories: space to gather, spaces to display, and spaces to perform.
The total prize budget is $250,000. The top 18 Virtual Environment Designs will be minted on the blockchain and purchased by Protocol Labs:
- First 3 places: grand prizes $30,000
- Second 5 places: top prizes $10,000
- Third 10 places: design prizes of $3,000
Additionally, there are 20 creator prizes of $1,000 each and 100 submission prizes of $300.
People over the age of 18 of any profession and from any country in the world can enter.
Brief and Judging criteria
The Renaissance will be judged by a panel of industry experts, including the CEO of Protocol Labs, Juan Benet. The contest is open for virtual environments dedicated to the following categories:
Spaces To Gather. Design gathering spaces to meet & share big ideas.
Spaces To Show Art. Design spaces to display incredible works of art.
Spaces To Perform. Design event spaces for live performances.
Builders can create worlds using their existing 3d modeling workflow, in tools such and Rhino, Blender, or Gravity Sketch, then import them into Unity using the Mona Unity Template.
Final submissions are in the form of Unity packages that can be easily exported and published to the Metaverse using the Mona web portal.
"Our judging will be centered around the utility of Spaces, but the aesthetic interpretation is where you can let your imagination run free.", comments the Mona team.
A full outline of the process including easy-to-follow tutorials is available in the documentation found here. All entries must be received by midnight PST on January 27th, 2022. The winners will be announced and published in February 2022.
