Voicemod announced an app that uses artificial intelligence to transform voices into Morgan Freeman, astronauts, and other characters. A new Voicemod AI Voices app is launching in beta, providing eight options to change your voice.
Voicemod has been helping users to transform voices for years using classic sound design techniques, but the new approach is AI-driven. All of the options, eight different voices, are processed in real-time, so the app could be used for streaming on Twitch or to play Dungeons & Dragons, for example.
The team revealed that the data for these voices have been generated with the help of English-speaking professional voice actors with the required characteristics. First, actors read scripts to collect data for AI-based models. Then, sound designers used traditional sound design techniques to turn the voices into fully-fledged characters.
The AI voices are processed on your own PC, so you would need more CPU power than regular Voicemod effects. A beta version has already been launched. Learn more here and sign up for beta there.
