Simon Verstraete shared a new video guide demonstrating how to set up a neat tool for exporting and sending geometry from Blender to Houdini.

Technical Artist Simon Verstraete, widely known for creating informative guides and producing outstanding projects in Houdini, recently shared a new tutorial explaining how to set up a neat tool for exporting and sending geometry from Blender to Houdini using Python scripting.

In the guide, the author showed how to create a button in Blender that triggers the export and sends the geometry to Houdini using just a few lines of Python code, detailing the processes of setting up Blender for Python scripting, writing and configuring the script, creating a button in Blender to trigger the script, and more. According to Simon, the tool allows you to save time and effort and lets you focus on your creative work.

Earlier, Simon also released a similar tutorial on how to use Python scripting in Houdini to launch Blender and open a geometry file, sharing an overview of the technique that can be useful for integrating different software tools in a pipeline or for automating repetitive tasks.

Additionally, the creator shared an extended version of the tutorial, in which he showed how to add more functionality to the tool and wrap it up in custom interfaces. The extended version is available via Simon's Gumroad page and can be purchased here.
