Ubisoft Is Seeking Senior Gameplay Animator for Beyond Good & Evil 2

A new job opening suggests that the long-in-development Ubisoft project Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still underway.

It seems that work on the long-in-development Ubisoft project Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still underway. In a recent tweet, Ubisoft Barcelona advertised a job opening saying that the studio is looking for a senior gameplay animator for the game.

The new employee will be responsible for "the quality and content of the animations and the functionality of the gameplay systems".

Beyond Good and Evil 2, the game that the studio refers to as "the most ambitious Ubisoft project", was first teased with a trailer in 2008 and, after about ten years of rumors and leaks, it was announced during E3 2017 where the publisher revealed the game would be a prequel to the original title. However, the game later almost disappeared from the public's attention due to alleged development problems.

Insider Tom Henderson previously stated that work on Beyond Good & Evil 2 is going poorly, and this process has also become more complicated with the departure of Michel Ancel in 2020. Although, at that time, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot claimed that the game was "progressing well".

There were rumors that work on the game was delayed indefinitely. However, in March, Henderson, citing his own sources, said that a big Ubisoft showcase was being prepared and it should reveal as many as 20 games, including Beyond Good & Evil 2.

It remains to be seen when the game finally comes out, but at least we know that work on Beyond Good & Evil 2 has never stopped and the game is now in active development.
