Runtime Nanite and Lumen, Nanite tessellation, unlimited materials, voxel sculpting, and more.
Voxel Plugin 2, a major update for the tool developed by Victor Careil that brings state-of-the-art voxel technology for Unreal Engine, has been in development for quite some time, but it appears to be well worth the wait.
In a new teaser, Victor Careil highlighted the features of Voxel Plugin 2, showcasing capabilities like runtime Nanite and Lumen, tessellation, splines, unlimited materials, voxel sculpting, and PCG, with even more on the way. Voxel Plugin 2 will be a free upgrade for existing Voxel Plugin 1 owners, although the two versions are not compatible.
Assets created in version 1.2, including graphs, materials, and foliage assets, will not be compatible with version 2.0. Additionally, voxel-specific functions used on the Voxel World in 1.2 are not available in 2.0, and the cubic and MagicaVoxel workflows from 1.2 are also currently unsupported in the new version.
Voxel Plugin is scheduled for release in early 2025. Learn more about migrating and new licensing details, and follow Victor Careil on X/Twitter to keep up with the latest updates and news.
