Xbox Is Reportedly Refunding S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Pre-Orders

It is said that Xbox is informing customers that their orders have been canceled as the game’s release has been postponed to an "unconfirmed date in the future."

Xbox has reportedly started to refund players who pre-ordered S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl as the game's release window is currently uncertain.

As reported by XGP (via VGC), players who had pre-ordered S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 started to receive messages informing them that their orders have now been canceled. According to XGP's report, Xbox explained that this decision is related to the fact that the game’s release has been postponed to an "unconfirmed date in the future."

While Microsoft has yet to comment on the matter, the company has apparently disabled the option to place new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 pre-orders on the Xbox store.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was initially scheduled for release in April 2022. However, in January, the developer of the title, GSC Game World, shared that the game would arrive on December 8, 2022. In June, the release date was pushed again – this time to 2023, although the studio didn't specify exactly how far into 2023 the game is set to release.

Later, during Xbox and Bethesda’s showcase, GSC Game World revealed a story trailer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl showing the intro to the long-awaited continuation of the studio's hit survival horror game. In addition to the new trailer, the studio also presented a video developer diary in which the GSC's staff documented the state of the studio during the current crisis.
