Alleged "Anvil" and "Devilwood" Call of Duty Leaks Confirmed as False

A reminder to take things with a grain of salt.

Yesterday, several alleged leaks about future Call of Duty (CoD) installments spread across social media platforms, creating quite a stir. However, Insider Gaming has confirmed that these leaks are entirely baseless.

These rumors gained traction largely because they came from two known CoD data miners, Visceral and VondyisPog, who have previously reported accurate CoD franchise information.

This time, however, they claimed that two upcoming CoD projects were named "Anvil" and "Devilwood", information that could not have been gleaned from data mining. This is because these titles are too far into the future to appear in current game files, but more importantly, as Inside Gamer stated, it's because they simply do not exist.

According to the purported leaks, Anvil was supposedly a Ghosts-themed title from Infinity Ward, and Devilwood was believed to be a Sledgehammer title based on Advanced Warfare. Although the possibility of Infinity Ward working on CoD 2026 and Sledgehammer focusing on the 2027 installment isn't surprising, it has been established that the specifics of these games as leaked are incorrect. This discrepancy, particularly in the incorrect codenames, raises questions about the source and verification of the leaked information.

Since going viral and getting widely reported, both data miners have acknowledged the inaccuracies in their reports.
