An Upcoming 3D Action Game Where You Can Hack The Enemies Into Self-Destruction

Demo of Liminal City: Axiom of Maria - Chapter One is coming soon.

Solo Game Developer Studio Ganzheit is working on Liminal City: Axiom of Maria Chapter One, an upcoming 3D action-adventure game set in Seoul a century later, a world controlled by AI. Recently, they announced that the game's Steam page is finally here, giving those interested a chance to wishlist it.

Created using Unreal Engine, Liminal City "blends puzzles, exploration, storytelling, swordplay, and meticulously designed boss encounters." You take the role of Kay, who is looking for the missing husband in a futuristic world with stunning visual effects. Fight against AI enemies, develop new abilities, and explore various areas in the sealed city to uncover hidden truths.

Here are the key features:

  • 3D Metroidvania Exploration: Use a top-down map to explore, unlocking new abilities to reach new areas.
  • Fast and Fluid Combat: "Combine evasive maneuvers, flanking attacks, time manipulation, blade throws, and kicks to defeat enemies." You can even hack the enemies to force them into self-destruction, using them to take out other foes or clear obstacles.
  • Tightly Designed Boss Battles: Apply new skills to take down even more powerful bosses. Analyze enemy patterns and exploit weaknesses if you'd like to survive.

The development of Liminal City: Axiom of Maria - Chapter One started around last May, few months after Axiom of Maria: Prologue was released in February and received very positive reviews on Steam. Now, let's have a look at the newly shared in-game footage to learn more about the new title's level design, building, puzzle, and more:

Besides the launch of the Steam page, the developer also teases that a demo is coming soon. If Liminal City: Axiom of Maria is your type of game, don't hesitate to add it to your wishlist while waiting for the demo.
