Baldur's Gate 3 Won the Record Number of Golden Joystick Awards in One Night

Larian's game beat the record previously held by The Last of Us Part II.

Baldur's Gate 3 dominated this year's Golden Joystick Awards breaking the record set by The Last of Us Part II for the most awards won in a single night. However, the overall record for the most awards still belongs to The Witcher 3.

Larian Studios and their game Baldur's Gate 3 emerged as the triumphers receiving a total of seven awards, including Best Studio and Game of the Year. The team behind the Golden Joystick Awards show later announced that Baldur's Gate 3 set a record for the most awards received at a single ceremony. Previously, Naughty Dog and their game The Last of Us Part II held the record with six awards in 2020.

Still, the RPG game The Witcher 3 by CD Projekt RED holds the record for the most awards at the Golden Joystick Awards, with a total of ten. Five of these were received in 2015 after the game's release, two more were given for the expansion Blood and Wine, and two were received in nomination "Most Wanted Game." Actor Doug Cockle also received a special award for his portrayal of Geralt in the English version of the game.

Previously, Elden Ring, God of War, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Overwatch, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas have each received five awards in a single ceremony. The most successful franchise in the history of the Golden Joystick Awards is Grand Theft Auto, which has a total of 21 awards.

Recently, Larian has released a new patch for Baldur's Gate 3 that adds a color-blind mode and even allows players to take a well-deserved bath. Learn more here.
