Why did they have to shut down Killzone Mercenary?
It's been a long time since PlayStation released a handheld console (well, there's PlayStation Portal, but that's a different thing), but fans are still not ready to put their Vita consoles on the shelf. A gamer has recently discovered that you can still instantly find an online match with players in Call of Duty for PS Vita.

Twitter (X) user Radec discovered the thing yesterday. "It’s 2025, and I can still find matches instantly in Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified on PS Vita," the gamer wrote.
First, the game is 13 years old this year, but that's not something unusual, I guess. What's unusual is that this particular game actually got horrible feedback from players and critics when it came out. For example, the title developed by nStigate Games got 4 out of 10 from IGN, and you have to do something extraordinary to get such a score from IGN. In their review, the team noted the game has "bad multiplayer, bad campaign and bad controls." Well, what can you do when no one ships new games for your favorite consoles, right?
Some players also noted that Sony shouldn't have shut down the servers for Killzone: Mercenary, which featured a pretty great multiplayer mode. "I booted it up a few weeks ago and discovered this. It. I was very surprised. It’s a shame the Killzone Mercenary servers were taken down. I bet they would be fairly populated," wrote Mathew Vinson.
Do you still play on your old consoles? I, too, have a PS Vita, on which I spent hundreds of hours trying to get all the trophies in The Binding of Isaac, but it's been a long time since I launched it.
