Car Physics Simulation Test With Source 2-Powered S&Box

Oz shared some experiments and compared the results to Unreal Engine.

If you enjoy sandbox experiences like Garry's Mod or keep up with Facepunch's projects, you've likely heard of or are following the development of S&box, a game and a platform considered a spiritual successor to Garry's Mod, built on Source 2. It just got a Steam page last year, and while the reception has been mixed, plenty of users are excited about the potential of Source 2 and the tools S&box offers.

Oz from LODZERO explored S&box with vehicles, experimenting with physics sub-stepping. He noted that it's much easier to work with than Unreal Engine 5 and concluded that the engine shows a lot of potential:

Oz also believes S&box could be a serious competitor to Unity and Unreal Engine: everything compiles instantly, you can use C# and map in Hammer, and it even has a forward renderer, among other features.

Check out more examples of S&box tests from other users, and if you'd like to try it yourself, join the Developer Preview here:
