Check out This Great-Looking RPG Upcoming to NES & PC

It runs on real NES? Yes, it does.

Nearly three decades after NES production ceased outside Japan, are NES games still being made today? The answer is yes. Former Dawn is an upcoming action RPG designed for NES that is also going to be available on PC.

In Former Dawn, after a terraforming mission on a distant exoplanet fails, humanity dies out, leaving behind the "Formers," a species that has forgotten its origins. You play as a hunter who seeks to uncover the truth while battling a relentless organization determined to stop you. Throughout your journey for justice, you will team up with a group of brave "Formers."

With the aim of creating “a retro game with a huge amount of rich content,” the indie studio behind the project, Something Nerdy Studios, will provide more than 20 hours of gameplay in the final game, along with 30 bosses, 45 explorable areas, 52 character classes to unlock, 100,000 words of dialogue, among many more exciting features. The 8-bit character portraits and animations, incredible as they look, might make you doubt if the game is really for NES.

The project's Kickstarter campaign is live now, and with US$78,000 obtained as of the time of writing this article, it has achieved 49% of the pledged US$160,000 goal.
