The developer Colossal Order and publisher Paradox have jointly addressed concerns raised by fans regarding the performance of the highly anticipated city builder game, Cities: Skylines 2. While acknowledging that the game's performance may not meet their intended benchmark, the companies reassured fans that the release date on PC, set for October 24, will not be changed.
In their explanation, the creators stated that Cities: Skylines 2 is a next-generation title that requires specific hardware requirements. Despite their earnest endeavors to provide the best possible experience, they acknowledged falling short of their desired benchmark. Nevertheless, they maintain their unwavering commitment to releasing the game as planned, as they firmly believe it offers a truly unique gameplay experience.
"Cities: Skylines II is a next-gen title, and naturally, it demands certain hardware requirements. With that said, while our team has worked tirelessly to deliver the best experience possible, we have not achieved the benchmark we targeted. In light of this, we still think for the long-term of the project, releasing now is the best way forward. We are proud of the unique gameplay and features in Cities: Skylines II, and we genuinely believe that it offers a great experience that you will enjoy," as stated on the Paradox forum.

The developer further emphasized their commitment to enhancing the game in the months following its release, specifically focusing on addressing performance issues and meeting player expectations. They emphasized their goal of making Cities: Skylines 2 accessible and enjoyable for a diverse range of players. Reassuring fans of their unwavering dedication, they expressed the determination to unlock the game's full potential.
"We will continually improve the game over the coming months, but we also want to manage expectations on performance for the coming release. Our ambition is for Cities: Skylines II to be enjoyed by as many players as possible, and we're committed to ensuring it reaches its full potential," shared the creators of the game.
Some more news on the upcoming game, Cities: Skylines II's map will be an impressive five times larger than that of Cities: Skylines, boasting an expansive area of 159km². To put this into perspective, the playable area of the sequel is roughly equivalent in size to the real-life country of Liechtenstein.
