Figure out Who is in Your Shadow in This Upcoming Farming Horror

We Harvest Shadows is the latest project by David Wehle, the developer of The First Tree.

Do you sometimes feel burdened with all the social connections and trivia, and just want to run away from the status quo and stay alone for a while? It might not be easy to do it in real life, but you can enjoy such life in We Harvest Shadows, an upcoming first-person farming horror.

Created by David Wehle, developer of The First Tree, a beautiful 3rd-person exploration game, We Harvest Shadows is a mixture of farming simulation and psychological horror, inspired by “slow-burn P.T.-style psychological horror games and Edith Finch-style personal first-person titles.”

We Harvest Shadows

We Harvest Shadows

You are Garret, who moves to an old farm and becomes a recluse to spend the rest of your life there alone. The daily to-do list shows all the tasks for the day, like repairing the broken house, caring for livestock, et cetera. For the farming part of gameplay, you can earn money and purchase new tools like axes and watering cans. Your movement is not restricted to the farm area, though, as the vast "abandoned Appalachian wilderness" is there to be explored.

But it won’t call itself a horror game if that is all. As you endure the dark on every lonely night that seems quiet and peaceful, someone, or something, is actually with you. Who are they? Will you figure it out?

Even though this game is in the "horror" genre, the developer promises no jump scares throughout the gameplay; the atmosphere and storytelling will bring you unease.
