In a recent interview, Jared Hess, the Director of the Minecraft movie, famous for his work on Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, shared more details on the upcoming adaptation.
According to Hess, Grant Major is joining the Minecraft adaptation as a Production Designer. Grant is known for his work on Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, and The Power of the Dog.
"We're shooting in Auckland, New Zealand, on these ginormous soundstages. … The production designer is the guy that did all the "Lord of the Rings' stuff, Grant Major," Hess stated.
Hess also mentioned that they want to avoid a similar situation to the negative reception faced by the Sonic film due to its character design.
"I think anybody that does any IP, they just want to avoid an ugly "Sonic' situation. I just can't disappoint the 10-year-olds, or they're going to murder us," Hess said.
Earlier, we reported that Jack Black will join Minecraft's cast as Steve. If you don't remember who else will feature in the upcoming film, here are some names for you: Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.
