Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a narrative-driven action-adventure powered by Unreal Engine 5, was revealed this March. In a recent interview, Writer and Director Amy Hennig shared new concept art and discussed new details of the game.
"It led us to do a bunch of interesting things," Amy Hennig told Entertainment Weekly, "one of which was to not only tell a story with a young Steve Rogers who's still trying to find his feet, as opposed to the more seasoned guy that we've seen in a lot of the films. It also let us introduce a new Black Panther of 1943."
"There's a lot of intrigue in our story, a lot of twists and turns, fascinating characters, and interesting locations," the developer shared. One of such locations is depicted in a new concept art image:
The natural environment of Wakanda is one of the key locations, along with Occupied Paris. "Wakanda at this point in time is hidden away from the outside world and protected by this impenetrable jungle," Hennig explains. "They are non-interventionist, but events transpire that pull them into the conflict. They have to protect their interests. The world is getting smaller."
The story's events will be set in various places all over the world. "There are yet-to-be-revealed locations in between," Hennig shared. She also pointed out the importance of the "photo-real, cinema-real level of detail," created with Unreal Engine 5.
