Such characters as Quicksilver, Locus, and Colossus might be "plants."

There are suggestions that the developers of Marvel Rivals add fake heroes to the game to catch those who leak the information on the title.
The topic was initially brought on the Marvel Rivals Leaks Discord channel. Data miner Keone supposed that the developers might hide heroes in the game files: "Hello everyone, it has come to our attention that the devs have set up characters to catch leakers, not only the ones in the code – but potentially insider sources, too. Kang will probably explain this more as we go on, but here is the current list as far as we can figure out." Keone posted a list of characters that are believed to be real and fake:
Allegedly, the characters that will appear in the game are Blade, Ultron, Jean Grey, Captain Marvel, Emma Frost, Hit Monkey, The Hood, Angela, MODOK, and Valkyrie. The "plants" list reportedly includes Locus, Cyclops, Quicksilver, Professor X, Colossus, Paste-Pot Pete, Gambit Rogue, Nightcrawler, Beast, and Jubilee. However, the information should be taken with a grain of salt, as the suggestions were not confirmed.
That's a clever way to catch leakers and to tease fans, making them guess which characters will feature in the game. Before, Valve also came up with a funny way to deal with those who skirt Deadlock's rules: players who used cheating mechanisms in the game were transformed into frogs.
As for Marvel Rivals, the game's director Guangyun Chen, shared that the developers plan to add new heroes to the game every six weeks, and the characters will depend on the season's theme. Currently, the roster of the confirmed heroes includes 35 characters and features such characters as Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Groot, Invisible Woman, Loki, Mantis, Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Thor, Venom, and more.
