According to the latest SteamDB data, Monster Hunter: World has experienced a resurgence, marked by a significant uptick in player numbers, just a few weeks after the announcement of Monster Hunter: Wilds. If we have a look at the charts, we'll see that the game hit a new peak concurrent player count of 138,148, making it the highest number since July 2020 when it peaked at 144,376 players.

This achievement was noted yesterday, with the game's player base steadily rising throughout December. SteamDB's data charts show that the increase in concurrent players started early in December, possibly because of the unveiling of Monster Hunter: Wilds, and has kept on growing since the announcement. Speaking of Monster Hunter: Wilds, the next installment in the famous Capcom series is promised to be launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC in 2025.
Another factor driving the game's popularity could be the ongoing Steam sale, offering the game for less than $10 until January 4, marking its lowest-ever price. Even the expansion Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is also on sale for just $14.79, making it a great deal for a game that provides hours of entertainment.
