Just in September 2023, we reported that Visual Concepts, a developer and a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive recognized for its NBA 2K, WWE 2K, and Lego 2K Drive games, was hit with layoffs, which occurred due to the financial challenges that the parent company had.

A few months later, we found out that Visual Concepts Austin was facing job cuts for the second time. While there's no official announcement from the company on the reasons and exact number of affected, here are the posts published by laid-off employees on the matter.

"Well...the games industry bloodletting continues. Today Visual Concepts Austin laid off myself and a group of very talented developers. I have had a great time over the past couple of years working with some of the finest Game Devs in the industry. Over the past 23 years of making game art, I have seen some downturns but nothing like this," shared Brad Bowling, Art Manager, on LinkedIn.

"Well after a great year of working at Visual Concepts Austin it’s sad to say I’ve been laid off as of today along with several other amazing colleagues. I will miss all of those that I worked with greatly," wrote Sydney F. on LinkedIn.

Speaking of layoffs, Microsoft is laying off nearly 2,000 employees from Activision Blizzard and Xbox gaming department, a new report surfaced these days claims half of the number mentioned before is Activision Blizzard workers. Because of these massive job cuts, FTC decided to file a complaint to a federal appeals court, pointing out that this action contradicts Microsoft's statement to keep Activision Blizzard's operational independence.
