See How League Of Legends Arena's Noxus Portal Was Made

Riot Games' Sirhaian shared a behind-the-scenes look at his latest VFX work.

Now a Senior VFX Artist at Riot Games, Sirhaian has made significant contributions to League of Legends as the artist behind numerous visuals and also as a game designer for the Swarm game mode. Recently, he showcased some of the VFX work he created for the League of Legends Arena's Noxus update and shared some insights about it.

For the game's portals, Sirhaian used stencil masks to hide geometry placed both in front and behind, creating a fake parallax effect. He showcased this technique in a video, comparing the result with and without the stencil enabled.
