In August 2022, a popular fun free-to-play platform battle royale game Fall Guys collaborated with Sonic the Hedgehog franchise for its Sonic's Adventure event with challenges set in Bean Hill Zone and five thematic skins for fans to obtain.

It was not the first time the Sonic skins were featured in Fall Guys, as they were available to purchase in October 2020 and returned in 2023.

The Sonic franchise had an overall successful 2023 with two new titles delivered, Sonic Superstars for PC and consoles, and Sonic Dream Team, an Apple Arcade exclusive, meaning the series is currently thriving with the expectations set high for its new entries.

Last month, a well-known Atlus leaker nicknamed Midori, who has been very accurate regarding Persona 3 Reload leaks in particular, shared that SEGA currently works on a new mobile Sonic the Hedgehog game similar to Fall Guys set to release in 2024.

In their latest claim, Midori says this new game is going to be released for a global audience with planned collaborations with other SEGA IPs such as Persona.

There's no actual game footage available to the public yet, however, an anonymous leaker has sent Insider Gaming an internal video of Sonic, Tales, Shadow, Knuckles, Eggman, Amy, and other Sonic characters battling in 32-player matches resembling similar to Fall Guys, where "some matches require players to race to the finish, collect rings, or simply just to survive to the end". The game is presumably codenamed "Project Toys".
