Smooth Water Repulsion With Mesh Distance Field In FluidNinjaLIVE 2.0

Andras Ketzer shared a new demo.

It's nearly impossible to miss any new videos from Andras Ketzer, who's hard at work on FluidNinja LIVE 2.0, the upgraded version of his real-time fluid simulation tool for Unreal Engine 5.

Just a few days ago, we shared his impressive water-filling gaps simulation, and now Andras has treated us to a new water physics test demonstrating how Mesh Distance Fields repel water by sampling scalar SDFs and injecting the vector gradient into the simulation velocity field to make it "flow down" surfaces. The demo covers a 100m area with a 2K resolution, achieving 260 FPS on NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3080.

We can probably look forward to more demos soon, as the tool is expected to enter a closed alpha phase very soon, followed by a public beta and extensive testing throughout 2025. FluidNinja LIVE 2.0 beta will be distributed via the dedicated Discord server, which you can join to stay updated on all the latest news and developments.
