Speculation Surges as Iconic Doom Cheat Code Registered as a Trademark

Is a new game announcement on the horizon?

ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, has registered the iconic Doom cheat code, IDKFA, as a trademark, leading to speculation about an upcoming game announcement.

The trademark, filed in the United States, falls under the category of "Entertainment services, namely, providing online computer games." Given that IDKFA is a well-known cheat code among players, offering keys, full ammo, and full armor in the game, it's got people thinking — could this mean a new Doom game is on the horizon?

Last September, during the ongoing FTC vs. Microsoft trial, confidential documents hinted at Bethesda Game Studios and id Software working on several titles, including a new Doom entry titled Doom Year Zero and its DLCs for fiscal years 2023 and 2024.

Earlier this year in February, reports emerged that Microsoft was considering bringing Gears of War, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and the upcoming Doom game (presumably Doom Year Zero, as spotted in Microsoft's documents) to PS5 and Switch.

Currently, there is limited information available regarding the trademark. However, we might get more details during the Xbox Games Showcase, which is set to commence on June 9.
